Disasters that affect thousands of people, and cause severe damage. Prior to the occurrence of a crisis, it is crucial to stay alert and maintain disaster preparedness skills. Moreover, Disaster Relief operations and financial assistance provision are vital post-disaster initiatives that need to be implemented urgently.

The geological features and climate characteristics of Iran have made the country susceptible to numerous natural disasters, particularly floods, earthquakes, and seasonal wildfires. In such times, charities play a significant role in making up for the damage caused by natural disasters.

Natural Disasters in Iran

Iran is among the top ten earthquake-prone countries. Moreover, all the Iranian provinces are at risk of flooding, causing drastic damage annually.

Adoption of Preventive measures mitigates disaster impacts, helps reduce reconstruction costs, and saves lives. For example, raising awareness and educating the public, especially students on safety tips, helps reduce losses and injuries. In recent years, 26 out of 31 Iranian provinces were struck by flood; approximately 2 million and more than 16 million victims were impacted directly and indirectly by flood, respectively.

Meteorological and geological data indicate that the state of the earth has been the main reason for natural disasters over the course of three years. Furthermore, the data suggests that 83 percent of the country is at risk of earthquakes. The crisis management organization provides services, emergency aid, and relief to disaster-stricken citizens; however, these measures do not solely satisfy the demands. Therefore, nonprofit organizations and charities must make up for the insufficiencies.
